Example of website belonging in this category: A small collector's baseball card auction that you run out of your garage in Cleveland, Ohio. You track your auctions on your website which is CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING AND SUBMITTING BIDS from any online user who visits your website. Example of website NOT belonging in this category: A premier auction business with auction houses in all 52 States. Your website was voted "Best Auction Site" and has a great searchable feature to find the auction house nearest the user, but there is NO WAY FOR AN ONLINE USER TO BID on any of your items. Please Note: If your site does not belong here, it may fit in the Regional category under your business location or perhaps in Business. If you do not auction Antiques and/or Collectibles, your site may fit better in one of the other subcategories under Shopping/Auctions/. We will be able to get you site listed much faster, if you take your time and submit it to the correct category. |

What is a Dutch Auction and how does it work?
A Dutch auction is a special auction formated to handle a situation in which a seller has multiple, identical items that he/she wishes to sell. The seller specifies the minimum price [starting bid] and the number of items he/she has available to sell. Bidders can submit any amount at or above the minimum for a specified quantity they are interested in purchasing. The bid amount reflects what the bidder is willing to pay for EACH of the items. At the close of the auction, the highest bidders earn the right to purchase the items at the lowest successful bid. Bid amounts are for (each) item. Shipping is for (each) item.Taken from Auction Inc Help Pages
Alternatively
Continuous Dutch Auction Bid Format
The Dutch Auction has been around for nearly a century, starting in Holland as an auction to sell tulips. The main principal of the Dutch Auction is that at set time intervals the sell price incrementally goes down until a bid is made. That first bid made is the winning bid.Taken from CattleOfferings.com Help Pages

Do not submit actual auction sites in this category. Do not submit sites which only provide links into a single online auction service such as eBay. This category is not for sites that search for items on auction sites. Submit those to Computers: Software: Internet: Servers: Shopping: Auctions: Assistance: Searching Do not submit sites that sell software to do searching. Directories containing listings of other auction sites will need to provide significant content in order to be listed. |
Search engines, directories, or listings of both online auction sites and locations for actual auctions.
This category is for those on-line auctions that are unique - or at least, too few to justify their own category (so far). This is a page to watch, as the newest - and craziest - auctions will appear here first! If in doubt about where to submit your site - place it here, and one of the editors will move it if necessary.
If your site is here, and you have an idea for a category - write and suggest it! The Open Directory is run by human beings (much like yourself). Our aim is to create the best, most useful directory. You can help, with your suggestions and site submissions.
Thank you
